We at Eat Café are very passionate about food. We have spent majority of our lives making food that sustains people. We firmly believe that food is not just a means to deliver nutrients to the body but also a way to fill the soul, a vehicle for memories, and a manifestation of love to be shared with friends and family. However, this is not always the case.
For many of us, food is a source of pleasure. We eat to try new flavors, new dishes. We explore new cultures through food. We constantly challenge the flavors that we can bring together. However, this is not the same for everyone in the world. We are, indeed, privileged to be able to enjoy food for its flavor. Us, even more so, for the ability to play with ingredients that often comes halfway across the world.
For 38 million Americans, however, food is sustenance—a basic necessity that they do not always have access to. Among those 38 million, 12 million children struggle with food insecurity, which adversely impacts their development and ability to participate in other basic activities, such as education. With the recent Covid-19 pandemic, even more Americans, particularly people of color, now face hunger on top of poverty and unemployment.
We at Eat Cafe recognize the urgency and necessity of action on our part to feed those who are hungry. However, we cannot do it on our own. We have partnered with Feeding America to help address the hunger problem in our nation. Our aim at Eat Café is to raise as much money as we can to contribute to Feeding America. We’ll need your help and support to raise sufficient money.
Feeding America is the largest hunger-relief organization in the country. They have been working tirelessly for over forty years to provide individuals and families struggling with food insecurity access to nutritious food. They also advocate for policies and societal changes that would help minimize, if not eliminate, food insecurity. Their work is more important now more than ever, when more families and individuals lost their source of living because of the recent pandemic. Feeding America is not only providing a means for these populations to survive daily but are also paving the way to allow them to recover from poverty, unemployment, and food instability.
We at Eat Café have been advocates of Feeding America. We sincerely believe in their advocacy and work, which is why we have decided to use what platform we have to help them. Right now, we see that the best way to support Feeding America is through monetary donations, which they will use to fund their projects. We are raising as much money as we can for Feeding America. We hope that you, too, can support us in this endeavor.
